Samsung N110 Netbook

Are Samsung back on top of the pile?

When Samsung released the NC10 they raised the bar for battery life in the netbook market. Lets be fair, the N110 is no great leap forward in netbook technology. The tried and tested format of Intel Atom N270 processor, 10 inch screen and 1Gb Ram provides predictable netbook performance.

So what sets the N110 apart from the ever increasing crowd?

Just an NC10 with Botox?

Where the NC10 was a fairly industrial looking square cornered beast the Samsung N110 is less likely to poke your eye out with its gently rounded form.
The Matt finish screen from its predecessor has been replaced with a glossy screen which might put off those who regularly use their netbooks in the great outdoors.
Personally we much prefer a glossy screen so that ticks a box for us.

Storage is taken care of with an impressive 250Gb Hard drive and the whole package is brought together beautifully with the wonderful Windows 7 Starter edition.

As we have come to expect from Samsung the build quality is exceptional considering the price point. The keyboard is positive and responsive, well up to a spot of word processing and the trackpad and buttons are similarly well crafted.

N110 Battery life

The NC10 blew us away with its 7 hour battery life so how does the young pretender compare?

In light use the Samsung N110 ticks along happily for a few minutes short of 10 hours. Yes that’s TEN HOURS battery life!!!

How Samsung have achieved this whilst shaving 70g in weight from the NC10 is anybody’s guess but we love it.

Nobody buys a netbook for cinema surround sound but the speakers on the N110 are distinctly better than average in volume and quality.

All the other usual netbook features are present such as 802.11b/g wifi, Bluetooth, 3 USB ports, headphone and microphone jacks and the ever present 1.3 megapixel webcam.

Overall the Samsung N110 is a highly capable netbook which has benefited from a nice restyle and the addition of the extra storage in the form of its 250Gb hard drive and that exceptional battery life puts Samsung back on top of the pile.
The N110 can be yours for just £329 inc Vat including a 1 year collect and return warranty.

If Windows 7 isn’t your thing (why ever not I can’t imagine) then the N110 is also available in its previous guise with a smaller 160Gb hard drive, Windows XP and a reduced price tag to match.
